TAProots is a working farm, requiring several types of equipment to make the farm work easier. The WORKHORSES of TAProots begin with Big Blue, a 2005 Ford pick-up truck. It has a cab with clamshell doors and a second row of seats perfect for grandchildren. One difficulty is that both Joyce and Tom love to drive it. It is essential for farm work: delivering grapes to the winery, carrying kayaks to the next paddle, hauling all sorts of fertilizer, mulch, for the crops. The next farm implement is Smokey, a Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle, with a cab for 2-3 persons and a small dump-truck bed. Smokey zips around TAProots, carrying weeds and brush to the burn pile, picked fruit for processing, etc. Rides on Smokey are popular; four year old Cora calls it “her baby truck.” Next comes Hannah, a bright yellow 1979 Cherokee Chief Jeep, that Eric owns. It is the forebear of the SUV, part car- part truck. It can drive off road around TAProots farm. A 1970 vintage Farmall tractor is a classic, no frills machine for heavy work. The John Deere lawn tractor sees constant duty, keeping the grass mowed during this rainy year. All these are joined by a 2008 R32 VW roadster, that we use for a second car, for the winter in the barn. They all fit well during the long winter, waiting for another growing season at TAProots.
