The flowers at TAProots Farm were winding down in preparation for the coming frosts.  Upon return to our Florida Home, we are greeted with a profusion of FALL FLOWERS.  Certainly, the mainstays if our pollinator garden, the Pentas,  Sestrum, Plumbago and Fire bush , have enjoyed the frequent rains this summer and are the largest ever.  But worth the wait in the autumn gardens of Floridap are several late bloomers, including a row of bright yellow Thryallis under the big cabbage palm.  The hardy red salvias make a second appearance,  The genus that really comes on is the gingers.  As a group, they are often late to emerge in the spring, some not coming up until midJune.  We have a group of shell and other gingers that bloom then, but now we have a second wave of red gingers with their bright cones of blooms, both white and yellow butterfly gingers, and small shell gingers both white and lavender.  Several places along the driveway and back of the lot are impressive stands of bright red pinecone ginger blooms at the base of the plant.  One exciting part of Florida gardening is 12 month‘s of color in many forms.  It’s good to be back.
