While TAProots Farm has already had frost and even snow, the hot days of summer have finally given way to beautiful AUTUMN weather at the Florida Home.  This is a great time for day or weekend trips to north Florida’s long list of outdoor treasures, such as fall wildflower hikes in the variety of forests, sand hills, wet lands, and tidal estuaries within a hour’s drive.  It is also time to catch the bird migrations, some of which begin as early as August.  For water birds, the kayaks are uncovered and carried on the Subaru to truly amazing sites at Cedar Key and the huge wildlife refuges along Florida’s Nature Coast.  This will continue well into the New Year.  The Florida Garden also slows a bit, but with a few bushes and trees providing some late color and food for the hoards of butterflies that seem to pass through this time of year.  A mellow time of year.
