This week marks the height of the camellia season with the annual Gainesville Camellia Society show at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Our Florida Home now has 38 camellia bushes plus 5 rooting in our nursery. When we bought our home in 2013, we had three. The 38 include 2 Reticulata, 5 Sansanqua, 2 Sinensis (tea) and 29 Japonica. Most live in the shade of our backyard, under the canopy of oaks. Flowers so varied and beautiful on our morning walks in January is a real treat; a bowl full of their flowers for the table even better. Pictures of some varieties attached.
